Wie stark nutzt Ihr eigentlich die Lemmy Gruppen/Foren?

Auf Lemmy ist inzwischen ordentlich was los. Allein auf Feddit.org gibt es insgesamt über 3000 User und jeden Tag über 700 aktive User. Natürlich ist das nicht so wild durcheinander wie im SocialMedia Teil des Fediverse, sondern schön in Foren organisiert. Da via Fediverse/ActivityPub eine Interaktion damit möglich ist, würde es mich interessieren wie sehr Ihr Lemmy Gruppen nutzt? Was so eine Gruppe ist? Wie wäre es z. B. mit verkehrswende@feddit.org » feddit.org/c/verkehrswende ?

Achso einzelne Benutzeraccounts gibt es dort in der Form wie im Social Media Teil nicht. Man folgt Gruppen/Foren.

Nach der Fediverse-Sprechstunde ist vor der #FediverseSprechstunde

In der März-Sprechstunde am 27.03.2025 nehmen wir #PeerTube genauer unter die Lupe. @gunchleoc wird dazu etwas vorbereiten. Eine Aufzeichnung wird es nicht geben – also seid live dabei!

Für die April-Sprechstunde gibt es ein besonderes Anliegen: Die Idee kam auf, #Lemmy vorzustellen. Dafür suchen wir Anwender und Entwickler, die bereits mit Lemmy arbeiten und ihre Erfahrungen teilen möchten.

The services around #Misskey #Sharkey #IceShrimp can use groups. Restriction that these users use this software

#Freindica and #Hubzille can use groups as you described.

But #Lemmy would also offer you this.

Da mich die Neugier wohl endgültig überwältigt hat, hab ich mir gerade einen Account beim NodeBB-Forum von WeDistribute.org erstellt. Vor allem, um mir die Unterschiede gegenüber Lemmy anzusehen.

I must say that I find interaction here lacking in comparison to #BlueSky or #Lemmy. I'd love to engage with a community here on the mastodon.green server and mastodon as a whole. I'm unsure what the barrier to entry here is. Let's connect and chat!

Yep, you can post from a #Pixelfed account to a #Piefed community!

This is a big bloody deal to me, and I have lots of use cases for that ability!

Basically, this means my #Pixelfed account doesn’t have to be devoted to a single topic anymore! I can put all my images on one account and sort them according to community—which can also be used by others!

It’s true. I’m retiring @fediversenews, and have created @fediversenews as its successor.

I used to post constantly to that #Friendica group. However, I am incredibly pleased with the moderation toolkit of #Piefed, so it only makes sense to use that software instead.

For those who don’t know, Piefed is a #Reddit-like platform – similar to #Lemmy and #Mbin – but I feel it has amongst the best community management tools of the federated Reddit-like platforms. So I am thrilled to be migrating an old community over to Piefed.

Oh yeah, and I’m looking for moderators. So if this interests you, let me know.

Je nachdem wie das dann in der Praxis tatsächlich umgesetzt wird, könnte dieses Jahr noch eine weitere Abwanderungswelle auf das #Threadivers zurollen:

Reddits Paywall soll angeblich nur für bestimmte neue Subreddit-Typen gelten, nicht für alle derzeit verfügbaren Subreddits. Im August sagte Huffman, dass das kostenlose Reddit selbst mit Paywall-Inhalten „weiterhin existieren und wachsen und gedeihen“ werde.

A reminder that this stock photo is for articles about the Fediverse, so it’s the most vanilla, KISS (Keep It Simple) version imaginable for people not familiar with the Fediverse. My *real* Fediverse folder has Ivory, Mona, Phanpy, Surf and Voyager.

It’s wasn’t so long ago that #Mastodon made up 90% of MAUs on the #Fediverse. Hell, it so dominated Fediverse usage that, for most people, Mastodon was the Fediverse.

But now Mastodon’s percentage of MAUs stands at 58%. And it’s probably lower because the second most popular Fediverse software distribution, #Misskey, doesn’t accurately report MAUs. So what happened?

I suspect four things:

1. Mastodon validated the concept of a Fediverse, which prompted more devs to build for #ActivityPub
2. As Big Social alienated their userbase, some of this userbase sought Fediverse alternatives. This is what drove popularity of #Lemmy and #Pixelfed.
3. #Bluesky became the default alternative to #Twitter instead of Mastodon
4. As Mastodon users became aware of a greater Fediverse, many migrated to other Fediverse software

Obviously, Mastodon is alive and kicking. It’s not going anywhere. Its continuing development is critical to the success of the Fediverse.

But at the same time, the success of Mastodon led to the success of other federated projects. And it works the other way around too. The success of other federated projects is also Mastodon’s success.

So really, lower MAUs for Mastodon is actually a giant win for the big pachyderm.
